BUILT TO LAST: Applying Risk Management for Sustainable Workforce Success

On 26th June 2026, the Rwanda Human Resources Management Organisation (RHRMO) hosted its HR Café session under the theme “BUILT TO LAST: Applying Risk Management for Sustainable Workforce Success.”

The session brought together HR professionals and practitioners for an engaging conversation on how organisations can identify, assess, and manage people-related risks before they develop into major organisational challenges.

Participants explored key areas of HR risk, including recruitment and retention, compliance and legal matters, performance and skills, leadership and succession, workplace culture, and employee well-being. Through practical examples and open discussions, the session highlighted the important role HR professionals play in building resilient and sustainable organisations.

A key feature of the HR Café was the interactive group work, which allowed participants to examine real workplace risks and develop practical HR solutions. The discussions encouraged participants to move beyond identifying problems and focus on early warning signs, root causes, prevention, and effective responses.

The session concluded with a thought-provoking panel discussion addressing questions such as which HR risks are most underestimated, common mistakes organisations make when managing workforce risks, and how HR can transition from a reactive function to a more proactive strategic partner.

The HR Café reinforced an important message: sustainable organisations are built by identifying people risks early and taking action before they become crises.

Through initiatives such as the HR Café, RHRMO continues to create spaces for HR professionals to learn, exchange experiences, and strengthen their contribution to resilient and future-ready organisations.

RHRMO remains committed to advancing practical HR knowledge and creating platforms that connect, empower, and inspire the HR profession in Rwanda.
