HR Café Explores Artificial Intelligence in HR

On 28th August 2026, the Rwanda Human Resources Management Organisation (RHRMO) hosted its HR Café session under the theme “Artificial Intelligence in HR: Balancing Innovation and the Human Touch.”

The session brought together HR professionals and practitioners for an engaging conversation on how Artificial Intelligence is transforming HR practices and how organisations can leverage technology while keeping people at the centre of decision-making.

Participants explored the application of AI across key areas of HR, including recruitment, performance management, and learning and development. Through practical examples and open discussions, the session highlighted both the opportunities AI presents for improving efficiency and decision-making, as well as considerations around fairness, employee trust, ethics, human judgment, and maintaining meaningful workplace relationships.

A key feature of the HR Café was the interactive group work, which allowed participants to explore practical workplace scenarios involving the use of AI in HR. The discussions encouraged participants to consider how AI can support HR professionals while ensuring that important people-related decisions continue to receive appropriate human oversight.

The session concluded with a thought-provoking panel discussion exploring where AI can create the greatest value for HR, which aspects of HR should remain fundamentally human, and how HR professionals can prepare themselves and their organisations for an increasingly AI-driven workplace.

The HR Café reinforced an important message: AI should enhance the work of HR professionals, not replace the human connection at the heart of people management.

Through initiatives such as the HR Café, RHRMO continues to create spaces for HR professionals to learn, exchange experiences, and engage with emerging issues shaping the future of work.
