INTRODUCTION

Rwanda Human Resources Management Organization (RHRMO) is an HR association that was established in 2012 with the aim of enhancing the human resource management profession in Rwanda. Human resources constitute the most important factor of production for any organization and therefore Rwanda Human Resources Management Organization chose to focus on improving the Human resources skills and practices.

Rwanda’s EDPRSII and Vision 2020 consider Human Capital as one of the pillars that will drive Rwanda’s development as a knowledge based economy.

OBJECTIVES OF RHRMO

  • To create the platform for dialogue  of HR professional and practitioners
  • Promoting national HR practitioners and Professional in Rwanda
  • Be an effective HR professional Body.
  • Bring a positive impact to increase sustainable development through building HR professionals
  • Promote excellence integrity; professional
  • standards and ethics of HRM in Rwanda.
  • Provide advice to government related  to HR policies and legislation
  • Ensure profession accreditation of HR professionals and practitioners
  • Build strong institutions through HRM with intention of increasing productivity
  • Act as advisory body to the members from public, private and civil society institutions
  • Mobilize resources for advancing HRM capacity  inRwanda.
  • Strengthening HRM through provided trainings, workshops, and seminars.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS (from 2012 up to date)

 

  • Involvement to enhance Human Resource Development as key instrument for efficient and effective delivery of a country’s development targets as defined in EDPRS II and Vision 2020
  • Sharing experience and best practices by providing the opportunities to exchange ideas, and  success stories to the members
  • Bring members together and to make update on running of the Organization.
  • In Partnership with NCBS, Participants from different public institutions, private sectors, High learning institutions and Non organizations all of them were awarded certificate of participation which display the modules covered during the 2 days HR National workshop that took on 26th to 27th  June 2014 at La Palisse Hotel Nyandungu. Trainings attracted participants more 256 in the year 2013 at Lemigo Hotel.
  • And in Partnership withMIFOTRA, NCBS, BTC RHRMO has run 5th National HRM Conference 2015 at Lemigo Hotel with the theme of Role of HR in Organizational Performance
  • Learning of some important modules of human resource functions.
  • Sharing experiences and best practices.
  • Opening Partnership with NCBS, PSC, MIFOTRA, PSF, KOICA, GIZ MKU, UR/CBE
  • Especially, the Partnership with NCBS is already in place and work in different area( Financial, technical support, advisory support,…) while for Mount Kenya University (MKU) is  in a sense that will make it simple to the members who wish to proceed for further studies in HRM to Mount Kenya University-Rwanda.

  • Opening Partnership with NCBS, PSC, MIFOTRA, PSF,KOICA, GIZ and MKU
  • Especially, the Partnership with NCBS is already in place and work in different area( Financial, technical support, advisory support,…) while for Mount Kenya University (MKU) is  in a sense that will make it simple to the members who wish to proceed for further studies in HRM to Mount Kenya University-Rwanda.

Since the year 2012 we have  been organizing  General assembly meeting with the flowing objectives:

  1. To Update files of members of the organization and welcome new ones
  2. To Update members on organization running, RHRMO activities.
  3. To elect and welcoming the new committee
  4. Get ideas and views from members where they were still facing challenges in their work place and make advocacy.

RHRMO LEADERSHIP

  • First Vice-Chairperson, First Deputy Legal Representative;
  • Second Vice-Chairperson, Second Deputy Legal Representative;
  • Secretary;
  • Treasurer.

Advisory and Disciplinary Committee composed by 6 advisors Executive secretariat: staff ( if any)

CHALLENGES

  • Lack of RHRMO permanent office.
  • Lack  of RHRMO website.
  • There is general scarcity of skills within Rwandan Labor market due to people who do HR incompetently.
  • There is lack of induction programme in most institutions.
  • Fight against Staff turnover due to lack of retention strategy.

WAYFORWARD

  • RHRMO to set up a website and permanent office.
  • Build a strong connection with HR professional at Regional and International level.
  • To conduct HR Function survey for demonstrating image of HR Profession in Rwanda
  • Establish RHRM consultancy like Recruitment Center in order to stay financial stable and self reliance
  • To work with and provide support to government institutions whose mandate is to build  Human Resources Capacity
  • Provide  an HR certification in Rwanda
